Duplication vs. origination
Duplication copies an existing working key by tracing its cuts onto a new blank. Origination cuts a new key from a code (VIN or lock code) when there is no working key to copy. We do both — and if a key is worn, we recommend originating from code so the new key is cut to the factory spec rather than the worn copy.
High-security and restricted keys
Restricted keyways from Medeco, Mul-T-Lock and ASSA cannot legally be duplicated at a hardware store — they require an authorized dealer and a signed key-holder list. We handle both cutting and paperwork.
